First Light, Avocets on the Thames Estuary

£140.00

“First Light, Avocets on the Thames Estuary.” By Alice Angus.
Alice is known for drawing and painting outside in all weathers. This piece was painted directly with her brush, with no drawing, at sunrise on the Thames Estuary. The spectacle of Avocets feeding on the Thames mudflats is testament to the hard work that the RSPB and other organisations have put in to create habitats for this bird that was extinct throughout the United Kingdom in the 1940s. The Thames estuary landfill and former industrial sites have been designated as habitats for wildlife and green spaces for people and wildlife.
